My Saturday Morning at the SRU Homecoming Game
Starting off my first homecoming here at Slippery Rock University was waking up Saturday morning around 7am. Heading to my 8am walk-through to get one last preparation in before the big rivalry game vs IUP. After the walk-through around 9am we headed to Boozel dining hall to eat breakfast as a team. Multiple plates down and now its 10am on the way to Mihalik-Thompson Stadium to start our pregame routine. Once I arrived at the stadium I head into the locker room to start getting dressed. Its now 12am and its time for specialists to take the field to get a pre game warmup in. Its finally closing in on game time, and we are all psyched to run through the tunnel onto the field. Fast forwarding through the four, fifteen minute quarters on the wet, rained-out turf. We had some troubles on all sides of the ball, and unfortunately the game wasn't going our way as planned. After the final scoreboard buzzer rang, we felt as if we let the university down. After-all, sometimes elite teams need that "wake up call" of realization that brings new focus and greater success in the long run.
Hey Logan, watching that game was very tough as a fan. I could only imagine how hard it was being apart of Slippery Rock's amazing football program. Although it was a rough game, like you said I think the wake up call will help SRU in future weeks to maintain its strenghth hopefully going into the PSAC championship. It was a rainy day and was hard to keep warm. But the students were all excited to see you all play against IUP even though the outcome wasnt as planned.
ReplyDeleteHi Logan, Your morning was very eventful. Eating breakfast as a team is a good time to bond. Having a deep connection with your teammates so you all can work together and fix each others mistakes. Just because you lost one game does not mean there isn't time to redeem yourself. The season is not over yet and everyone has time to succeed.
